Hello I’m Karen, PR Director & Chief Diversity Officer at Gobi Partners, a Pan-Asian venture capital firm, based in Hong Kong where I head our PR, impact, and diversity initiatives for Gobi’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) practice, to build the GBA startup ecosystem.I began my career working for my family business in Canada, then moved to Hong Kong in pursuit of establishing a career in Asia. I first joined the Asia Marketing team for Aesop, overseeing PR and Communications for 8 markets. My interest for the startup world began when I joined WeWork, and when I managed an Entrepreneurship Academy program for Female Entrepreneurs Worldwide. I’m currently a KrASIA Media contributor, freelance photographer, and supporter of social entrepreneurship, sustainability, arts, and women communities.I’ve been volunteering for the Chinese-Canadian community since 7 years old and active in building a China-Canada bridge. I’m currently Ambassador for the Chinese Canadian Legends Association and a Committee Member for GDE Canadian Chinese Outreach Endowment Fund, administrated by the Canadian Cancer Society. My passion for volunteering has led me to work with multiple organisations over the years in Canada, China and Africa.I’m a recipient of the Gold, Silver, Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and 10 Years Ontario Volunteer Services Award. I received my Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto majoring in Women, Gender and Equity studies, high school diploma from Appleby College, and primary education from Fern Hill School.For lifestyle passions, I’ve been dancing since age 6, traveled 32 countries to date, enjoy public speaking and interested in Tech, Wellness, History, Arts, and Humanities subjects. Life is short, so have the courage to be yourself and do as much as you can.
